What is Guru Purnima..???

The full moon day of Hindu month of Ashad (July-August) is observed as the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, a day consecrated to the memory of the great sage Vyasa. All Hindus are indebted to this ancient holy who edited the four Vedas, wrote the 18 Puranas, the Mahabharata and the Srimad Bhagavata. Vyasa even taught Dattatreya, who is considered the guru of gurus.


Significance of Guru Purnima..!

On this day, all spiritual aspirants and devotees worship Vyasa in honor of his divine personage and all disciples perform a 'puja' of their spiritual teachers or "Gurudev". 

This is a day of profound significance for farmers, because it anticipates setting is the absolute need for rain, since the advent of cool showers become a new life. It 'a good time to begin the spiritual lesson. Traditionally, spiritual seekers began to intensify their spiritual 'sadhana' from this day.

Time, "Foreign Minister Urmas Chat" ("four months") begins on this date. Previously, wandering spiritual masters and their disciples used to settle a place to study and discourse on the Brahma Sutras composed by Vyasa, and engage in self-Vedantic discussions.

દોસ્તી વિશે એક વાક્યમાં એક વિદ્વાને લખેલું કે, ‘જો તમારે દુશ્મનો જોઈતા હોય તો બીજાથી ચપળ થઈને ટપી જાઓ. પણ જો તમારે મિત્રો જોઈતા હોય તો તેને તમારાથી આગળ થઈ જવા દો’ આ સ્પર્ધાત્મક જગતમાં પૈસા બનાવવા સહેલા છે પણ મિત્ર બનાવવા અઘરા છે. પૈસાથી દોસ્ત ખરીદી શકાતો નથી. પૈસાથી ખરીદાયેલો દોસ્ત વધુ પૈસાથી ખરીદાઈ જાય છે. ખલિલ જિબ્રાન જેવા ફિલસૂફે કહ્યું છે કે, ‘કશુંક આપવાથી મિત્ર બનતો નથી. તમારી માલિકીની કોઈ ચીજ આપો તેનાથી મિત્ર બનાવી શકાતો નથી. તમે નિષ્ઠાપૂર્વક તમારી આખી જાત આપો ત્યારે જ સાચો મિત્ર મળે છે.’ – પણ બધાને સાચા મિત્ર મળતા નથી. ખરો મિત્ર મેળવવા માટે પોતે ખરા બનવું જોઈએ. સાચો મિત્ર એ જ છે જ્યારે આખી દુનિયા છોડીને ચાલી જાય ત્યારે મિત્ર તમારી પાસે આવે છે. મારી દષ્ટિએ સાચો મિત્ર એ છે કે જે આપણી મૂંઝવણ અને નિરાશામાં કંઈ સલાહ આપવાને બદલે બોલ્યા વગર દિલાસો આપે.
